Steven Schafersman (Ph.D. in Geology, 1983, Rice University) has advanced training in educational technology and has years of experience in the design and development of educational websites and distance courses using computers and courseware applications. He is similarly knowledgeable about environmental science, petroleum geology, and biological and geological light and SEM photomicrography. His experience included 22 years of college, university, and high school science teaching; 14 years using light and scanning electron microscopes for scientific research; 14 years working with educational technologies, distance education, WebCT, Blackboard, the Internet and the Web; 12 years in the petroleum industry performing reservoir rock analysis and reservoir characterization; 8 years of geology field study; and 8 years of science consulting. He has many scientific and scholarly publications in these and other areas.
